It was the month Of September in 2022. The weather, as usual was playing “kabhi dhoop kabhi chaanv, kabhi sukha kabhi baarish” meaning, changing weather. Whenever the mercury fluctuates, especially with intermittent showers increasing the humidity, creates a very favourable condition for pathogens and allergies to prop up.
Though , there are several such cases coming to us, this one is unique in its own way.
So, this beautiful lady enters my clinic, appearing like in her mid 30s, a school teacher. Her actual age was 40+ though. Her smile was giving a positive vibe, till she started narrating her complaints.
She was having terrible coughing bouts.
She had suffered with high fever since last few days and had taken antibiotics(Augumentin) for the same but she wasn’t relieved at all.
It had been 3 days of suffering with fever, throat pain, hoarseness in voice, runny nose, incessant cough, earpain, and sleepless nights due to cough.
She was a known case of Hypothyroidism.
She had a history of Typhoid in childhood.
Family History suggested asthma & liver cirrhosis.
On taking on details, I came to know that her cough was increased while eating, even lasting up to 10 minutes continuously, so isn’t it obvious how much trouble it was? Besides, cough was more of a trouble when she used to fall asleep, waking her up. Although a few sips of water used to relieve her coughing but it was kind of big trouble. Imagine for a teacher, how irksome it would have been, because they cant rest their voice. She told me very politely that Mam I know Homeopathy works slowly but effectively so please take your time and get me rid of this cough. Actually post covid she was having these coughing bouts especially dry ones quite often but this time, it was accompanied with a high fever, so she got scared a bit and thought of rooting it out and approached me for Homeopathic treatment.
Well, there wasn’t much detail she could provide except a few like- runny nose only in the morning, heat was intolerable with no excess perspiration, right sided earache also while eating, just like cough getting aggravated while eating.
O/E- she had pharyngitis and tongue was slightly trembling.
Analyzing her symptoms, I gave her 2 doses of Lachesis to take the one dose only and keep the 2nd dose as SOS, advising her to avoid the repetition though and give a follow-up in a week.
To my surprise she came to me on 4th day after taking the first dose and asked me if she could hug me. Well, I was flattered and already knew what was it about. The lady was startled with the effectiveness of the medicine. Her narrative is still fresh in my memory that how soon after taking the first dose- fever was gone , so was the cough at night and by the 2nd day she had no soreness in throat or any earache, hoarseness was gone by the 3rd day and 4th day she showed up just to show her gratitude.
These are the moments when we as doctors really take pride in, especially as homeopaths, such prompt results embibes the trust with the individuals and our system of medicine as well.
